Syria Warns Rebels May Use Chemical Weapons

France24.com |  AFP - Syria warned on Saturday that rebels could use chemical weapons in their fight against President Bashar al-Assad's forces, and insisted that the regime will never unleash such arms on its own people.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague, however, said there was evidence the Damascus government could actually employ chemical weapons stocks in the conflict which a rights group says has killed at least 42,000 people in nearly 21 months.

Turkey Requested Nato Missile Defences Over Syria Chemical Weapons Fears

The Guardian UK |   Contemplating the use of missiles, possibly with chemical warheads, Turkish officials have told the Guardian.

The officials said they had credible evidence that if the Syrian government's aerial bombardment against opposition-held areas failed to hold the rebels back, Bashar al-Assad's regime might resort to missiles and chemical weapons in a desperate last effort to survive.

U.S. Building Drone Submarines

www.presstv.ir | American military has begun work on developing unmanned submarine drones capable of navigating oceans to track underwater vessels of rival nations.

The United States Department of Defense is in the initial stages of developing “unmanned drone submarines” that will navigate oceans across the globe, “tracking and following enemy subs for months at a time,” RIA Novosti reported Wednesday.

Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), tasked with developing new military technologies, began the project since “the growing number of adversaries able to build and operate quiet diesel electric submarines is a national security threat that affects US and friendly naval operations around the world,” the report adds, citing a statement posted on DARPA’s website.

Obama Administration Looking to "Legalize" Drone Strikes

www.presstv.com | Citing two unnamed US officials, the New York Times reported that the US government has been drawing up a formal rulebook to justify the targeted killings by its assassination drones in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Iraq and Libya.

The “explicit rules” would give the new US administration “clear standards and procedures” to continue its targeted killing program.

The report added that the US administration had accelerated the plan in the weeks before the presidential election on November 6, as the likelihood of Obama’s reelection was deemed low.
